HACKATHON is an event held by Computer Association of Nepal, Morang as a EVENT ATTRACTION that focuses on the personnel from technical background. HACKATHON is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, often including subject-matter-experts, collaborate intensively on software projects.
The goal of a hackathon is to create usable software or hardware with the goal of creating a functioning product by the end of the event. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, or the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. In other cases, there is no restriction on the type of software being created.

Organization Scheme

First Phase:

  • Theme Declaration
  • 3 hours of discussion and preparation time (approx.).
  • Participants can start coding thereby if they conclude what they are going to build.

Second Phase

  • After completion of first phase, participants start coding straight for 48 hours towards the goal in whatever platform they are familiar with. They can also build multiplatform product.
  • The expense of the time is fully dependent on the participant themselves, as the organizer will not interfere in the methodology of participants.
  • The meal consumption and leisure time is the part of 48-hour coding time, thus candidates are asked to spend their time wisely.
  • Meals will be provided by the organizer.

Third Phase

  • After completion of 48-hour coding time, participants must submit the copy of their product to the organizing committee.
  • The product of participants will be evaluated by the jury and about 5 of the best will be promoted to presentation round.
  • Participants will be provided 2-3 hours for rest and presentation preparation after selection and the participants will face questions from jury and audience if possible.
  • Participants will be provided 10 minutes for their presentation and demo of their product.

Rules and Regulations

This event is an open competition for participants from all over Nepal. By taking part in the tournament participants must read, understand and agree to the rules for participation. Players must agree and consent to the rules laid out by the organizers to enforce them. Every player is expected abide to the rules, and any failure to follow them can result in disciplinary actions to be taken. By participating in our tournament, you consent to agreeing our rules.

Intellectual Property Rights

All submissions remain the intellectual property of the individuals or organizations that developed them.

Protection of Intellectual Property

By submitting an Entry or accepting any prize, you represent and warrant the following: you will not submit content that is copyrighted, protected by trade secret or otherwise subject to third party intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights, including privacy and publicity rights, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the content; and the content submitted by you does not contain any viruses, Trojan horses, worms or other disabling devices or harmful code.


Participant represents and warrants that he or she is the sole author and copyright owner of the Submission, and that the Submission is an original work of the Participant, or if the Submission is a work based on an existing application, that the Participant has acquired sufficient rights to use and to authorize others; and that the Submission does not infringe upon any copyright or upon any other third party rights of which the Participant is aware, and that the Submission is free of malware.


Hackathon organizers have the right at their sole discretion to determine whether an entrant is eligible for the Contest. Organizer may disqualify, at organizers’ sole discretion, Hackathon entries (including, without limitation, content submitted in connection therewith) that (a) are in violation of third party rights or law or regulation, (b) use inappropriate or explicit language or images, or display content that Organizer or Sponsors otherwise finds objectionable.

Winner Selection/Judging Criteria

Winners will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Quality and innovative nature of the idea / demo
  • Utility of the idea / demo
  • Compelling use of the Sponsors Technologies and Tools

The Contest winners will be selected by a panel of judges. By submitting any Hackathon Entry, entrants release Hackathon, Sponsors, their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, representatives, agents, and advisors from any and all liability for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the decisions of the Judges.


Contest prizes are non-transferable by the winner. If you accept a prize, you will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting such prize.
